But, I've been able to work on my writing more between the seven hour plane ride, jet lagged nights, and empty school days. (Addi and I had a friend over Sunday, it was very nice to hear a British accent! :) Haha, but it was fun to catch up. Guys, a month is a long time!)
Sidetracked there, but back on course. So, a lot of time to write. And with that time, I've figured out something that makes me happy, happy, happy.
Dun, dun dun………
The Plot!
Yes, the plot makes me very, very, happy.
So lets suppose in Hypothetical City I have this plot. And for the sake of this post, it's name is Raxacoricofallapatorious. Raxi for short. And Raxi is a very plain, simple plot. Ready for this?
Tthis girl (Suppose her name is Molly) is taken prisoner and is put in prison. Her partner (Gregg Lestrade) in crime comes to save her, and he gets put in prison. Some renegade warden (Anderson) sets them free and they explode the prison and the tyrannical government. And they all live happily ever after.

Some renegade warden (Anderson) sets them free and they explode the prison and the tyrannical government. And they all live happily ever after.
Okay, that sounds pretty simple right? It's like every book out on the market right now. But lets add in something just spur of the moment.
Lets suppose this renegade warden suffers from that weird different personality disease. So once this warden has let them go, his personality changes to an evil dude. He then tries to kill them and warns the others.
This now means that Molly and Lestrade are stuck running for their lives. This further means they have no time to destroy this government.
But we know in the end they have to, so now this plot is forced to have something or someone added in. So lets add a good/bad character. (You know, divided loyalties…not exactly on either side, switching around…)
This character (Donavon) helps them escape to a planet. Then she turns them in to the government for money.
But suppose now that Anderson goes to his good personality again and sends a ship to Molly and Lestrade.
When the government people go to find them, they're gone. But Anderson once again switches his personality and helps the government.
Now, either Anderson or Donavon has to die, so lets just make Donavon die.
And then the government finds Molly and L. And they take them to the king dude. And in the middle of the meeting, Anderson has a personality change and shoots the king. And then M and L destroy the government.
The End.
And you see Raxi just got a whole lot more complicated.
That's why I love the plot. You can make it into a (For the sake of this post, go with this comparison) bird, a lamp, a table. Really you can make it anything.
Gotta love the plot. :D
But wait! There's more! The aftermath...dun, dun, DUNN!
So Molly and Lestrade have to now fix the country now that the government is gone. So then, Lestrade becomes the president, king person, etc. But he gets drunk with power, and now Molly has to exterminate him. And that's when the dramatic sequel picks up.
*Bows* *accepts flowers* *flips coattails* *sits down amidst fans*
I'm very proud of that right-off-the-top-of-my-head-plot, Raxi. :) Haha, I'm going to make that into a short story! (Yeah right!)
So, leave with one more moral: Squids will be squids and love those plots.
Happy Writing and Plotting!
